Frequently asked questions

How long should a title tag be?

Around 60 characters or fewer. Google measures by pixel width, not character count, so this is a reliable rule of thumb rather than an exact cutoff, and longer titles are simply more likely to be truncated with an ellipsis.

How long should a meta description be?

Around 155 characters or fewer for the same reason. Google sometimes rewrites the description shown in results anyway, so treat this as the best version you control rather than a guarantee of what appears.

Does the social preview match Facebook and LinkedIn exactly?

It is a close approximation built from your title and description. The real card also needs Open Graph tags (og:title, og:description, og:image) in your page's HTML to render this way when shared.
