Prime Big Deal Days 2026: Last-Minute Seller Checklist

Online seller checking inventory, advertising and profit before an October sales event

Prime Big Deal Days 2026 runs October 6–7, so sellers should spend the final days protecting profit and confirming operational readiness—not launching untested discounts. Start with sellable inventory, recalculate profit at the event price, set a hard advertising ceiling, check promotion stacking and improve the listings most likely to convert.

Amazon confirmed that the 48-hour event begins at 12:01 a.m. PDT on October 6. As of October 1, the useful question is no longer “How do I prepare for Q4?” It is “What can I safely improve before traffic arrives?”

Prime Big Deal Days 2026 dates and seller priorities

Amazon says Prime Big Deal Days will run on October 6 and October 7, 2026, with millions of Prime-member deals across more than 35 categories. Amazon positions the event as the start of fall and holiday shopping, which means the effects can continue beyond the two event days.

Official deal-submission windows and some inbound-inventory deadlines may already have passed. Check Seller Central for the eligibility and status of each ASIN. Do not assume a coupon, price discount, Lightning Deal or Best Deal will be approved merely because you create it close to the event.

DateHighest-priority action
October 1–2Confirm sellable stock, event prices, fees and profit per unit.
October 3–5Check promotions, ad budgets, listing quality and fulfilment capacity.
October 6–7Monitor stock, spend, conversion, suppressed listings and customer messages.
October 8 onwardEnd temporary changes, analyse profit and preserve inventory for later Q4 demand.

1. Confirm inventory that is actually available to buy

Look at available inventory, not only units sent to Amazon. Separate stock that is sellable from units that are inbound, reserved, stranded or under investigation. A shipment existing in Seller Central does not prove those units will be ready for customers by October 6.

For seller-fulfilled products, confirm that your team can meet the advertised handling time if order volume rises. Count packaging, carrier pickups, weekend coverage and the number of orders you can process without late shipment or cancellation risk.

A simple event stock estimate is:

Expected event demand = normal daily units × expected demand multiplier × two event days

Add a safety buffer only where demand evidence supports it. The Inventory Reorder Point Calculator can translate daily sales, lead time and safety stock into a practical threshold. Avoid sending excess slow stock solely because a major event is approaching; Q4 storage costs and aged inventory can erase the benefit of extra sales. See the Amazon FBA storage fee guide before increasing inventory.

2. Recalculate profit at the event price

A discount reduces revenue immediately, while product cost and many fulfilment costs remain fixed. Use the final event price—not the regular price—when estimating profit.

At minimum, include:

  • product cost;
  • Amazon referral fee for the category;
  • FBA fulfilment fee or seller-fulfilled postage and labour;
  • inbound shipping and placement costs;
  • coupon, deal or price-discount costs shown in Seller Central;
  • advertising spend per order;
  • returns, damage and other variable-cost allowances.

Run each promoted ASIN through the Amazon FBA Profit Calculator. Its rates are editable, so replace the defaults with the current fee estimate from Seller Central. Amazon also provides an Estimated fees per unit sold field, Revenue Calculator and Fee Preview report for current account-level estimates.

A worked event-price example

Assume a product normally sells for $40. Product cost is $12, inbound shipping is $1, the FBA fulfilment fee is $5.50 and the referral fee is 15%.

  • Profit at $40 before ads: $40 − $12 − $1 − $5.50 − $6 referral fee = $15.50.
  • A 20% discount reduces the price to $32.
  • At $32, the 15% referral fee is $4.80.
  • Profit before ads becomes $32 − $12 − $1 − $5.50 − $4.80 = $8.70.

The promotion has cut pre-ad profit by 44%, not merely 20%. Any coupon charge, deal fee, advertising cost or return allowance lowers it further. Use the Discount & Sale Price Calculator to compare possible prices, then enter the selected price into the Amazon calculator with complete costs.

3. Set a break-even ACoS before increasing ad spend

Amazon warns that ads can receive more clicks during major events and exhaust daily budgets earlier than normal. Increasing the budget without setting a profitability limit can scale losses faster.

Break-even ACoS = profit before advertising ÷ sale revenue × 100

In the example above, break-even ACoS is $8.70 ÷ $32 × 100 = 27.2%. At that point, advertising consumes all remaining pre-ad profit. A profitable target ACoS must normally stay below break-even and leave room for costs that are not already included.

Use the Amazon ACoS & ROAS Calculator with the event price and all non-ad costs. If ACoS is unfamiliar, read the guide to break-even ACoS for Amazon sellers.

During October 6–7, watch spend, attributed sales, conversion and inventory together. A campaign can show an acceptable ACoS while directing demand to a product that is about to run out.

4. Budget the promotion and check for discount stacking

Amazon’s seller guidance suggests estimating a promotion budget from the customer saving, expected redemptions and duration. A practical starting formula is:

Promotion funding = discount per unit × expected units

Then add any deal, coupon or price-discount charge shown during setup and a controlled buffer for higher demand. Amazon notes that short periods of budget overshoot can occur when orders arrive quickly.

Check every active promotion on the ASIN. Amazon allows more than one type of customer saving, which can create unintended discount stacking. A coupon combined with a separate percentage discount may push the checkout price below your profitable floor.

Do not copy a competitor’s percentage. Work backward from your own costs. The guide to maximum profitable discounts explains why identical discounts produce different results for different sellers.

5. Improve conversion without rewriting the whole listing

Five days is enough for focused corrections, but not for careless keyword stuffing or unsupported claims. Prioritise changes that make the buying decision easier:

  • make the main image clear at mobile size;
  • put the product type and strongest differentiator early in the title;
  • use bullets to answer compatibility, size, material, quantity and use-case questions;
  • remove claims that are vague, unverified or inconsistent with the product;
  • check variation names and ensure the promoted child ASIN is the correct one;
  • review recent customer questions and returns for missing information.

Use the Listing Title & Tag Optimizer for a clearer draft, the Product Description Generator for structured copy and the Product Image Resizer for correctly sized image files. Always review generated copy against the physical product and Amazon’s current category policies before publishing.

6. Prepare a live event dashboard

Track a short list of decisions rather than watching vanity metrics. At ASIN level, monitor:

  • available units and estimated days of cover;
  • sale price and active promotions;
  • sessions, conversion rate and ordered units;
  • ad spend, ACoS and budget utilisation;
  • profit per unit after the event discount;
  • listing suppression, Buy Box or Featured Offer changes;
  • late-shipment risk for seller-fulfilled orders.

Decide in advance what triggers action. Examples include reducing bids when ACoS exceeds the profitable ceiling, pausing ads when stock falls below a protected quantity, or stopping a promotion if the final checkout price reflects unexpected stacking.

7. Protect the rest of Q4 after October 7

Prime Big Deal Days is not the end of holiday demand. Avoid selling through every profitable unit if the product has a long replenishment lead time and no replacement stock is coming before Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

After the event:

  • confirm temporary coupons, price discounts, budget rules and bid changes ended as intended;
  • compare revenue with contribution profit, not revenue alone;
  • separate advertising sales from organic sales;
  • review which search terms and products converted profitably;
  • update the reorder plan using the new sales data;
  • reserve stock for later Q4 campaigns where the forecast supports it.

Frequently asked questions

When is Prime Big Deal Days 2026?

Amazon confirmed October 6–7, 2026. The 48-hour event starts at 12:01 a.m. PDT on October 6.

Can sellers benefit without an official event deal?

Potentially, but increased traffic and sales are not guaranteed. Amazon says sellers can use eligible deals, coupons, Prime price discounts and sponsored ads, while strong listings and available inventory can also help products convert. Eligibility and visibility vary by ASIN and account.

What discount should I use?

Use the deepest discount that still leaves an acceptable contribution profit after Amazon fees, fulfilment, advertising, promotion costs and returns. A competitor’s discount is not a safe target because their costs may be different.

Should I increase my Amazon ad budget?

Increase it only where stock is sufficient and the campaign can stay below the break-even ACoS. Amazon notes that higher event traffic can use budgets faster, but a larger budget does not make an unprofitable campaign profitable.

Is it too late to send more FBA inventory?

Do not assume newly shipped stock will become sellable before October 6. Check the latest shipment estimate and receiving status in Seller Central. Plan the event from inventory already available, then treat any additional units as upside only after Amazon confirms they are sellable.
