StockX Verified Marketplace sellers currently pay a 3% payment-processing fee plus a transaction fee of 7% to 9%, depending on Seller Level. Level 1 starts at 9%, while Level 5 falls to 7%. Your level is based on quarterly completed sales or sales volume—whichever qualifying route you reach—and Q4 runs from October 1 through December 31.
Use the StockX Seller Level Calculator to check your current level, transaction rate and the gap to the next tier. Then add the separate 3% processing fee and any applicable shipping, payout, currency-conversion or penalty costs before deciding whether a sale is profitable.
StockX seller fees at a glance
StockX’s current US help page separates its seller fees by marketplace. On the Verified Marketplace, the core fee calculation is:
Core StockX seller fees = Final sale price × (Seller Level transaction rate + 3% processing rate)
| Seller Level | Quarterly requirement | Base transaction fee | Core rate including 3% processing |
|---|---|---|---|
| Level 1 | No minimum | 9.0% | 12.0% |
| Level 2 | 12 sales or $1,500 | 8.5% | 11.5% |
| Level 3 | 40 sales or $5,000 | 8.0% | 11.0% |
| Level 4 | 200 sales or $25,000 | 7.5% | 10.5% |
| Level 5 | 800 sales or $100,000 | 7.0% | 10.0% |
The requirements use or, not “and.” For example, 12 completed sales can qualify for Level 2 even if their combined value is below $1,500. Equally, reaching $1,500 in completed volume can qualify even if it takes fewer than 12 sales.
These are base Verified Marketplace rates checked on October 2, 2026. StockX can run temporary promotions or apply other charges. Always confirm the fee displayed for the actual order before selling.
How StockX Seller Levels work
StockX measures performance by calendar quarter:
- Q1: January 1–March 31
- Q2: April 1–June 30
- Q3: July 1–September 30
- Q4: October 1–December 31
That makes early October an important planning point. The new quarter has just started, so sellers can decide whether reaching the next level is realistic before holiday demand accelerates.
StockX says it evaluates progress continuously. When you reach a level, the benefit applies immediately and remains for the rest of the current quarter and the following quarter. Reaching Level 3 during Q4, for example, should protect that level through Q1 under the current rule.
StockX’s Seller Program page states that sales on the Verified Marketplace, Listings Marketplace and StockX Live count toward Seller Level. Its detailed completion rules differ by marketplace, so monitor the Seller Level section in StockX Pro rather than counting an order as soon as a buyer checks out.
When does a StockX sale count as complete?
A sale must become complete before it contributes to level progress. StockX currently defines completion differently by fulfilment route:
- Verified Marketplace: generally complete after the item passes verification and the seller is paid.
- Direct or Flex Verified orders: complete after delivery to the buyer.
- Listings Marketplace: complete after delivery to the buyer.
This timing matters near December 31. A last-minute sale may not complete before the quarter ends, even if the buyer has paid. Do not build a level strategy around orders that have not cleared the required fulfilment step.
Worked StockX fee example
Assume a verified item sells for $250 and ignore shipping, payout and currency costs for the moment.
| Level | Transaction fee | Processing fee | Core fees | Payout before other costs |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Level 1 | $22.50 | $7.50 | $30.00 | $220.00 |
| Level 3 | $20.00 | $7.50 | $27.50 | $222.50 |
| Level 5 | $17.50 | $7.50 | $25.00 | $225.00 |
Moving from Level 1 to Level 3 saves $2.50 on a $250 sale. Level 5 saves $5 compared with Level 1. Across 100 sales at the same price, those differences become $250 and $500 respectively.
However, lower fees do not justify unprofitable sales. If dropping your Ask by $15 wins a sale but advances you only slightly toward a 0.5-percentage-point fee reduction, the discount can cost far more than the future benefit.
Calculate the value of reaching the next level
The financial value of a one-level improvement can be estimated with:
Expected fee saving = Expected future sales value × Transaction-rate reduction
Suppose a Level 2 seller expects $20,000 in Verified Marketplace sales after reaching Level 3. The transaction rate falls from 8.5% to 8.0%, a reduction of 0.5 percentage points:
$20,000 × 0.5% = $100 expected transaction-fee saving
If reaching Level 3 requires accepting $400 of avoidable discounts or losses, the level chase does not pay on fees alone. Include the following quarter in your expected sales because StockX says the earned level remains active through that quarter.
Use the StockX Seller Level Calculator first. It shows the sales-count and dollar-volume gaps separately, helping you identify the route you are closest to completing.
Fees the level calculator does not include
The SellersNest tool reports the base transaction rate for your level. A complete profit check also needs:
- Payment-processing fee: currently 3% on Verified Marketplace sales.
- Minimum seller fee: StockX currently lists regional minimums, including $5 in the United States, C$7 in Canada, £4.50 in Great Britain, €5 in the European Union and A$7.50 in Australia.
- Payout-method cost: some payout routes carry fees. StockX currently lists a 2% transaction fee for US Visa or Mastercard debit payouts, with a $1.95 minimum and $9.95 maximum.
- Currency conversion: a conversion may apply when payout currency differs from the currency selected on the StockX profile.
- Shipping or handling costs: these depend on marketplace, seller location, programme and order.
- Penalties: failed fulfilment, late shipping or verification problems can create charges and account consequences.
- Product cost and tax: fees are not the same as profit, and tax treatment depends on the seller’s location and circumstances.
Use the Profit Margin Calculator to combine the final payout with product cost and other expenses. The guide to gross profit versus net profit can help separate a profitable-looking sale from what the business actually keeps.
Verified, Listings and Live fees are not identical
The 7%–9% Seller Level transaction rates apply to the Verified Marketplace. StockX’s current US fee page says the Listings Marketplace and StockX Live do not charge sellers standard selling or processing fees at launch. Instead, the buyer covers specified charges.
Both are currently limited-access channels, and penalties or return-related costs can still apply. Do not use the zero-standard-fee wording for a Verified Marketplace profit calculation or assume those launch terms will remain unchanged.
Protect your level during Q4
Holiday demand can increase opportunities, but it also increases fulfilment pressure. StockX says sellers generally have two business days to ship new, unworn Verified Marketplace sales, with special timing for some new releases. The order’s actual ship-by date in StockX Pro controls.
StockX also says Level 3–5 sellers who fail to ship at least 5% of orders in a month receive a penalty fee the following month for each unfulfilled sale. A higher level is not valuable if volume growth causes missed shipments or verification failures.
A practical Q4 routine is:
- Check level progress weekly in StockX Pro.
- Separate completed sales from pending orders.
- Price from net profit, not only the lowest Ask.
- Keep sellable inventory organised by SKU and condition.
- Confirm packaging and carrier handoff capacity before promotions.
- Stop chasing a level if the required discount exceeds the expected fee saving.
If inventory control is becoming difficult, follow the SKU numbering guide. For cross-marketplace resale economics, compare the Depop, Poshmark and Mercari fee guide.
Frequently asked questions
What percentage does StockX take from sellers?
On the Verified Marketplace, StockX currently charges a 7%–9% transaction fee based on Seller Level plus a separate 3% payment-processing fee. Minimum fees and other costs can also apply.
Do I need both the sales count and dollar volume for a level?
No. StockX lists the thresholds as alternatives. Reaching either the required completed-sales count or the required US-dollar sales volume qualifies for that level under the current programme.
When do StockX Seller Levels reset?
Activity resets at the end of each calendar quarter: March 31, June 30, September 30 and December 31. StockX says an achieved level applies immediately and remains through the following quarter.
Do StockX Live and Listings sales count toward Seller Level?
StockX’s current Seller Program overview says sales across Verified, Listings and Live count toward Seller Level. Completion timing differs, so use the Seller Level dashboard in StockX Pro as the authoritative progress figure.
Is StockX Level 5 a 7% total fee?
No. The 7% figure is the Level 5 base transaction fee for Verified Marketplace sales. The separate 3% processing fee makes the core combined rate 10% before minimum fees and other applicable costs.
Should I lower prices just to reach the next level?
Only when the expected fee saving across the current and following quarter is greater than the profit surrendered to reach the threshold. Calculate both sides before accepting weaker margins.
